00;01;06;22 - 00;01;20;28

Speaker 1

Welcome back to witness live with NFL thread here live from Vegas. We are at flanker and I'm here with matt John hardy. I cannot wait to kind of dive into this because I know we're doing stuff with Raimondo which she doesn't know. We can say it here because she's not watching life.

00;01;21;00 - 00;01;22;23

Speaker 3

Let's hope not.

00;01;22;26 - 00;01;26;06

Speaker 4

Because instantly will kill me. Yeah, Yeah, right.

00;01;26;08 - 00;01;57;02

Speaker 1

Well, I mean, thank you again for sponsoring you guys. This is it's so awesome as we continue to do these events and really partner with people that have awesome stories but also are doing really good things in the world and see these events as not only, you know, opportunity to network, but also, you know, a purpose. Like there's so many things that why in this life and especially with you know, with what Fred's doing the LinkedIn for women yeah when Cynthia said that you guys were coming on board, I said, this is I mean, that's amazing.

00;01;57;02 - 00;02;05;28

Speaker 1

It's amazing. So please introduce yourselves. You know, introduce yourselves. You just. You introduce our company. Yeah. And the company. Yes. Yeah, you're right.

00;02;06;01 - 00;02;27;22

Speaker 3

I'm Matt Tepper. I'm the chief marketing officer at John Hardy. I joined John Hardy about a little less than a year ago, and the reason I came was actually exactly what you're talking about, which is it's sort of one of these rare luxury brands. It's a luxury jewelry brand that has a purpose. And it's the reason we're here is that one one of the core purpose pieces of our purpose is community.

00;02;27;24 - 00;02;48;19

Speaker 3

So we have a we have an artisan community in Bali, and it has 500 artisans. They all work together. Some of them have been with us through three generations. So we have a daughter, a mother and a grandmother. The grandmother actually just stopped working, but we had it for for a minute there. We had three generations of artisans working with us and community is a big pillar for us.

00;02;48;22 - 00;02;54;12

Speaker 3

So honestly, it's our honor to be here. I think with what Cynthia has created is is really amazing and.

00;02;54;12 - 00;03;14;00

Speaker 1

Is but and I love what you just said because again, it is about community and I think feeling so many and I want to say corporations, but there's so much out there that just doesn't think about the story. Right? They don't think about the story behind or why they started something. And everyone starts out as entrepreneurs, right? I mean, there's there's an idea and then it grows.

00;03;14;03 - 00;03;37;12

Speaker 1

And a lot of times when it gets that that big, there's something that's lost. And the fact that you guys are holding on to that and that you're giving people purpose, right? I mean, you know, mother, daughter, grandmother, it's again, it's it's a good company to work for is right. There's there's companies out there that it's like they might have a good meaning they might have a good purpose, but they don't treat their employees with the same respect that maybe you would want.

00;03;37;19 - 00;03;44;26

Speaker 1

And so the fact that you guys are doing all of that and I love that you said you joined because of the community aspect, because you saw the bigger purpose.

00;03;45;01 - 00;04;07;14

Speaker 3

Yeah, it's community and sustainability actually. Two things that I think are incredibly powerful, especially in luxury. Yeah, the the artisan community is super interesting because like you say about treating employees, the average tenure like the average amount of time that people have been with us in our in our artisan communities is 71 and a half years. Wow.

00;04;07;16 - 00;04;08;04

Speaker 1

Wow. I mean.

00;04;08;04 - 00;04;12;19

Speaker 3

Not to go to a company where the average average ten years, ten years.

00;04;12;22 - 00;04;22;06

Speaker 1

So take us through a little bit what what that looks like. I mean, so what they're if you can explain what kind of like for anyone that doesn't understand what an artisan community is and what that is about.

00;04;22;08 - 00;04;38;15

Speaker 3

Yeah. Well, it actually kind of starts with the origin of John Heart of the brand. So it's we're 49 years old, so we've been around for a while. Yeah. And that purpose has stayed with us the whole time. So John Hardy, the person who founded the brand back then, he was inspired by the community and the craftsmanship that exists in barley, right?

00;04;38;15 - 00;05;01;10

Speaker 3

And he was just a tourist and he was just amazed by this rich history that barley has around craftsmanship and artisanship. And that inspired him to start a jewelry brand that was based off of that. So all of the you know, some of our collections are handwoven and these are all handwoven by artisans. Each bracelet takes 15 hours to hand weave.

00;05;01;13 - 00;05;16;08

Speaker 3

And it's a it's a craft. It's a craft. And I think it's it's becoming a more and more unique part of luxury where it's not just about the design, it's actually about how it's made, who it's made by. Right. And the effort it takes to hand.

00;05;16;09 - 00;05;16;22

Speaker 4

The story.

00;05;16;22 - 00;05;17;16

Speaker 1

Behind it. Yeah.

00;05;17;20 - 00;05;18;29

Speaker 3

So behind it.

00;05;19;01 - 00;05;35;26

Speaker 1

That I mean, that's beautiful. And so, I mean again, so those guys there literally doing the work and loving what they're doing that they're staying that long. Yeah. I mean and that's what's so important. And so where, where can you tell us where you were before you joined John Hardie? Yeah, I mean should we go down that?

00;05;35;26 - 00;05;41;15

Speaker 3

Yeah, I'm actually a purpose driven marketer. So the previous company I was that was called Nutrafol, I don't know if you know.

00;05;41;16 - 00;05;42;27

Speaker 1

Yes, yes.

00;05;43;00 - 00;06;00;14

Speaker 3

So it's a hair growth supplement and the purpose behind that brand brand was equally powerful, where hair loss for women in particular is a stigmatized conversation. Yeah, it's just not talked about. It's more talked about now. Honestly, I think a lot because of Nutrafol. Right. We did a lot of work and.

00;06;00;16 - 00;06;02;05

Speaker 1

You guys actually did. You did a really good job.

00;06;02;08 - 00;06;23;23

Speaker 3

Thank you. Yeah, we worked really hard at that. It's a it's an important topic and similar to John Hardy, these brands that that mean something and create purpose and meaning and in the world are just special. You know there's so many brands right now that don't don't think about or don't don't even necessarily care about it and the impact they're having in the world now.

00;06;24;00 - 00;06;48;27

Speaker 3

And from the very beginning, John Hardy is just was built into the company we have. The sustainability piece is super interesting. So he was he was working for I think it was like five or ten years and realized that when you make jewelry is a lot of water and the impurities go into the water which kills crops. So he actually builds we have a we have an eight story water purification plant in Bali that purifies all the water.

00;06;49;00 - 00;07;04;12

Speaker 3

But then the really cool part is it gets pumped up into reservoirs where we have fish and then that feeds rice fields which we grow rice. So to feed the artisans. So the whole community is actually self-sustained in terms of food and life and.

00;07;04;13 - 00;07;04;26

Speaker 1

That.

00;07;05;03 - 00;07;05;24

Speaker 3

Yeah, it's incredible.

00;07;05;24 - 00;07;16;25

Speaker 1

I mean, and again, this is what why stories are so important because if someone didn't know the backgrounds, you know, I mean, again, just that part, someone's gonna be like, wait, I need to go look at John Hardy.

00;07;16;26 - 00;07;43;07

Speaker 3

Well, what's interesting is we don't tell that story right now. So I think purpose LED brands from, from my experience, have this interesting tension where when they're really founded authentically with a purpose, a lot of times the company and the founders in particular feel like talking about it sort of tarnishes the authenticity of the story itself. And so this this is a this is a tension that I've worked with over the years.

00;07;43;07 - 00;07;43;24

Speaker 4

Right. Right.

00;07;43;26 - 00;07;54;24

Speaker 3

Where it's not necessarily about selling more things because the story is great, but it's about helping everybody understand that having a purpose to what you do is more meaningful now.

00;07;54;24 - 00;08;11;23

Speaker 1

And again, like literally talking about language, because that's so and it's so important and so many things. And I think it's so it's missed. I mean, it really is. And I think I do think it's gotten better and better. I think there's times that like pockets that you see it kind of growing out and then something, you know, another trend takes over.

00;08;11;23 - 00;08;21;20

Speaker 1

But if you stay with that route and really kind of and people you guys listening to this that is that's what I mean that's what the point is. I mean and that's I.

00;08;21;20 - 00;08;41;13

Speaker 3

Do think that trend is an important part. So I do a lot of investing and I've been very active in the entrepreneurial space. And I do think the trend of consumers is important, and that's where I think the consumers feel like purpose led brands and stories are more meaningful to what they choose to buy. And that's creating a little bit more momentum, especially at the startup stage.

00;08;41;13 - 00;08;59;23

Speaker 3

Yes, the purpose led brands because a lot of it just has to do with the economic pressures where if I'm going to choose between two brands and one has a story that resonates with me and one that doesn't, I'm going to go now. I'm going to buy this one. That wasn't always the case. And so I think brands like John Hardie, when it was founded in the seventies, nobody cared.

00;08;59;28 - 00;09;00;14

Speaker 3

They just didn't.

00;09;00;14 - 00;09;00;20

Speaker 1

Right.

00;09;00;22 - 00;09;09;25

Speaker 3

Just get into John Hardy and the team did it because it was what they believed in and what was right. Right. I do think we're in this really nice moment culturally where that story matters to people.

00;09;09;25 - 00;09;14;26

Speaker 1

It really does. It really does. So tell us a little bit about what you're going to be doing here today. Since my mom does not listen.

00;09;14;26 - 00;09;18;25

Speaker 3

I kind of I mean, can I what if she's listening? We don't know. Yeah, we're so.

00;09;18;25 - 00;09;20;09

Speaker 1

We're she might be doing it in the car.

00;09;20;14 - 00;09;22;26

Speaker 3

Yeah, exactly right. You know, Can you check it out?

00;09;22;26 - 00;09;26;19

Speaker 1

Yes, you can see Raymond is on the reminder. If you're on there, get off the exact thing.

00;09;26;22 - 00;09;52;00

Speaker 3

Perfect. Well done. So we're really happy. So there's this. This whole thing came together in a really interesting way where we were introduced to thread through a through a partner, and then we met with Cynthia. It just instantly the connection was there between the community and John Hardie. And then as we continue the conversation, Cynthia, very polite and it was like, hey, you know, we were thinking about maybe doing a fundraiser for a breast cancer research fund.

00;09;52;05 - 00;10;18;24

Speaker 3

Yes. And it was perfect because we've been involved with them for years. That's a that's a near and dear. It's a topic near and dear to our heart. And so that was amazing. And then as we continue the conversation and then we learned about Reminders story and it's really interesting and I'll talk about this with a to group, but for me personally, that resonated as COVID was coming up and things were closing down.

00;10;18;27 - 00;10;43;26

Speaker 3

My wife had a regularly scheduled mammogram and we had a like a lot of conversations about whether she should go to that or not. But we decided that she should go to it. She went to the appointment the next week, everything shut down. So if she hadn't found that, we would have shut down and that appointment led us to a tough, tough journey, a tough call where we found out that she actually had breast cancer.

00;10;43;27 - 00;10;57;10

Speaker 3

Wow. Yeah. And if she hadn't gone in, she would not have found that out. Right. So she actually it's a really tough story for another day during COVID, she had to go through a protocol. But. Right.

00;10;57;10 - 00;10;58;07

Speaker 1

Because I kind of couldn't be.

00;10;58;07 - 00;11;11;27

Speaker 3

There because I could drive and I was able to go in with her, which was really tough. Really tough, Really tough, really tough. She was the she's actually the first person to receive surgery post quarantine in Long Island. Wow.

00;11;11;29 - 00;11;15;19

Speaker 1

I'm going along. Want to talk about the sort? Yeah.

00;11;15;22 - 00;11;16;15

Speaker 4

Wow.

00;11;16;17 - 00;11;39;09

Speaker 3

But but the reason that Amanda's story is so personally meaningful to me is I, I believe, very strongly in the work we do with Breast Cancer Awareness Research Fund and and how that money goes to cancer research. But the early detection part of it is so important. So why it's so important, the work that she and people like her are doing, Yeah, it's saving lives.

00;11;39;09 - 00;11;46;21

Speaker 3

And so it's one of those things that, you know, if you really detect it early enough, you can you can save lives right now.

00;11;46;21 - 00;12;11;06

Speaker 1

And so I mean, again, so, so many things to this. Right. And it's the fact that what you guys are doing as a company, but then also something personal to you. Again, that's why it's so important for people to talk when they meet, you know, there's so many people close things off because they're like, this is not this is not an appropriate conversation for a business meeting or I don't want to leave.

00;12;11;08 - 00;12;30;24

Speaker 1

I don't want to spill my you know, I'm not having a great day. And no, you don't need to be the person that's like constantly doing this. But it's okay to mention something, you know? Hey. And I think that that's so lost in corporate America because people, we all go through stuff. We all go through stuff. And there's things happening behind closed doors that people don't know.

00;12;30;27 - 00;12;32;23

Speaker 1

And if we just had a little bit more.

00;12;32;24 - 00;12;33;10

Speaker 3

Humanity.

00;12;33;11 - 00;12;35;05

Speaker 1

Humanity, that's it. That is today's.

00;12;35;06 - 00;12;52;23

Speaker 3

Conversation with our CEO, who I love all the time. My wife actually could just because we're talking about it and we actually chatted about a potential scare like a couple of weeks ago. We actually just got the results back last week and fortunately it was benign. But guess what? My CEO was just so human about it, right?

00;12;52;23 - 00;12;53;00

Speaker 1

I mean.

00;12;53;04 - 00;12;59;06

Speaker 3

Asking about it and say, he just was human about it. And I said to him, I really appreciate the humanity that you bring to the workplace.

00;12;59;06 - 00;13;05;05

Speaker 1

And you're this is your coming to a new job that is going to be a huge trauma for you, right? That she's going through this again.

00;13;05;06 - 00;13;05;22

Speaker 3

Totally aware.

00;13;05;22 - 00;13;23;00

Speaker 1

Of it. And it's so important. And that is one thing that we need to bring back to corporate America. We really need to bring that humanity back. So I so appreciate you sharing that story. I love that you're here. We'll talk where you are on Long Island. We'll talk off camera. You guys don't need to go down all of that.

00;13;23;00 - 00;13;32;17

Speaker 1

But thank you so much for what you guys are doing. I mean, John Hardie as a brand, but also you coming with your story and and why this event is important to you. Thanks. Really appreciate it.

00;13;32;17 - 00;13;33;05

Speaker 3

Thanks for having us.

00;13;33;06 - 00;13;47;05

Speaker 1

Yes. So thank you again, you guys for watching Y.A. live with NFL thread here live from flanker in Vegas. Welcome back to Y.A. Live with NFL thread. I'm going to have you introduce yourself so everyone can tell you, but I'm so excited to have you back.

00;13;47;05 - 00;14;03;26

Speaker 5

I'm excited to be here. I'm Tamara Wilson. I am a proud board member of Off the Field NFL Wives Association. I work in the financial industry for a firm called Bridgeway Capital Management. I'm also an ordained minister. And actually, Reverend Dr. Wilson.

00;14;04;00 - 00;14;18;07

Speaker 1

You are. I know. And you guys have seen I mean, you have been on a number of times, which is just so good every year to see this beautiful smile and what you're doing. I mean, what you do for off the field. Yeah. Do you want to give us a little snippet of what we're doing tomorrow?

00;14;18;07 - 00;14;22;09

Speaker 5

Yeah. So the fashion show is going to be lovely. I am walking. That's not why it's going to be lovely.

00;14;22;09 - 00;14;24;01

Speaker 4

But yes, because you walk.

00;14;24;01 - 00;14;26;10

Speaker 1

And you see you're you're so good.

00;14;26;12 - 00;14;46;16

Speaker 5

I love it. I may be retiring soon, but right now I'm still walking the fashion show, walking the runway. So that'll be fabulous. Romantic. And Cherise are the chairs, and they are just doing an amazing job in Las Vegas. It's been a different type of fashion show, but it's going to be, I think, especially fabulous. So I'm looking forward to that.

00;14;46;16 - 00;15;12;20

Speaker 5

We've got S.W.A.T. performing because one of their members is one of our members. So Taj George. So we're excited about that and just a lot of things going on. And then I'm personally trying to promote our conference that's coming up and that'll be in April, April 18th through the 20th in the fabulous New Orleans. And so we are it's going to be at the Four Seasons Hotel April 18th through the 20th.

00;15;12;20 - 00;15;19;28

Speaker 5

And we're really excited to welcome the ladies to that, which is also a precursor to the next Super Bowl, which will be in New Orleans.

00;15;19;28 - 00;15;24;14

Speaker 1

So we're trying. Love that. Yeah. How big is energy? How many years have you been with off the field?

00;15;24;17 - 00;15;28;14

Speaker 5

my God, It's been at least eight years. I've been on the board. I was.

00;15;28;16 - 00;15;29;17

Speaker 1

I mean, you've always been a member.

00;15;29;17 - 00;15;47;15

Speaker 5

Yeah, I've been a member. I'm a lifetime member, and I'm one of. I'm a different kind of member. I am, actually. When I joined, I was a wife, but now I am ex-wife. But I am a lifetime member and I remain on the board. And part of the reason I remain on the board is obviously, I hope that I have something to offer to the ladies.

00;15;47;17 - 00;16;02;08

Speaker 5

But also modeling for them that this organization is about sisterhood. And so, you know, life happens. And even if it happens, we still support you and welcome you. And so I am a living testament of that as a board member.

00;16;02;08 - 00;16;20;04

Speaker 1

So yes. Yeah. Mean, thank you. And again, it's always so wonderful. I mean, you do so much for your I mean, your community as an ordained minister. I mean, you bring it and I say this every time the energy at these events, the love that I mean, all of you guys bring is so special and, you know, always so honored to be a part of.

00;16;20;04 - 00;16;46;23

Speaker 5

Yeah, well, we love being a part of your podcast, and I'm actually going to be starting a podcast. I go live on Instagram a lot to love it. Yeah, yeah. You come on sometimes. Yeah. So, Reverend Dr. Spice is my handle on Instagram, and I'm actually starting a podcast called The Spice of Life. And Caldwell, who was also one of our members, the she she's going to be kind of being my CEO and helping me.

00;16;46;23 - 00;17;02;25

Speaker 5

So she has a great business model that, ladies, if you're thinking about doing something or men thinking about doing something and you need that kind of back office support, one of our members offers it and she's lovely to work with. And, you know, so I'm excited about that as well.

00;17;02;25 - 00;17;16;26

Speaker 1

But I mean, and that's such a beautiful thing about like if you guys are watching this, you're not a part of thread or off the field. This is what you hear about how you guys can support each other. Exactly how you can support each other if you're moving, how you can support each other in business, how are you going to support each other in life?

00;17;16;27 - 00;17;32;18

Speaker 1

Yes. And that's what the beautiful thing about this community is. We just talked about this with Matt from John Hardy, the CMO, about community. Right. I mean, it really is about sticking together and uplifting each other. So thank you for always joining in. I can't wait to see. What can you tell us a little bit what you're wearing?

00;17;32;18 - 00;17;39;15

Speaker 5

So I'm wearing Kate Spade. I feel like I'm at the Oscars or something. I'll be wearing Kate Spade. And so I can't wait.

00;17;39;15 - 00;17;40;02

Speaker 1

I can't wait.

00;17;40;03 - 00;18;03;03

Speaker 5

I always do kind of a feminine thing. I'm not as young as some of our members, but I love feminine and a little bit sexy, but a lot feminine. I am a minister, so, you know, keep it classy. So. But I love it. Yes, I'm excited. And really, this year has gone exceptionally well. Kudos to our board member, Britney, because she's handling the models.

00;18;03;03 - 00;18;17;28

Speaker 5

Reminder has always had that. And she's done a fabulous job, too. But Britney, this I am a woman of a certain age and a certain body type. So it's lovely to go in and have that pick for you that works on the first go. All three of my outfits that were picked for me work. So I had to.

00;18;18;01 - 00;18;18;25

Speaker 4

that's amazing.

00;18;18;26 - 00;18;21;18

Speaker 5

I have to just find something. But this year I got to choose and it was lovely.

00;18;21;23 - 00;18;30;06

Speaker 1

and I can't wait to see it. And we will be. We're actually not live streaming like I usually do. We're not live streaming series. Have to catch it later, but I'm so excited. Yeah, it's going.

00;18;30;06 - 00;18;30;26

Speaker 5

To be wonderful.

00;18;30;27 - 00;18;31;21

Speaker 1

It's so good to see you.

00;18;31;21 - 00;18;32;07

Speaker 5

Good to see you.

00;18;32;08 - 00;18;33;00

Speaker 1

It's not.

00;18;33;02 - 00;18;35;24

Speaker 5

I'll see you. Take care, buddy.

00;18;35;26 - 00;18;56;01

Speaker 1

Welcome back to Y.A. Live with NFL Thread here live from Vegas. We are at flanker and we have one of our again Hagar. I mean you're going to be on modeling, you're on the board. You have five kids. You used to be a competitive swimmer. You're a doctor. I mean, this is one that last year I was like, What, what, what, what?

00;18;56;02 - 00;19;12;10

Speaker 1

I need to set my game up because you are doing a lot. You are doing a lot. But what I always say when people say to me, you do what you do a lot, how do you do it all? And a lot of times it just flows. It's what I'm meant to do. There's times where like, something's not flowing and I'm like, okay, let me pray on this.

00;19;12;13 - 00;19;24;00

Speaker 1

What what is happening? But so take us through I know we're going to talk about the board, but if you can take us through a little bit of the flow, like how you keep it all together, I know your wonderful husband is, you know, really helps as well.

00;19;24;02 - 00;19;47;27

Speaker 6

Yes, he is. So I think we found a good balance. We always say that this is a season of grace for our life. So just when we think we can do something or can overcome something, God extends us just a bit more grace just to keep going. So that's then time and time again, the story of her life, especially the past few years, you know, in raising five little kids, seven and under in my medical training as he's pursuing his master's degree.

00;19;47;27 - 00;19;48;18

Speaker 6

So. That's right.

00;19;48;18 - 00;19;49;29

Speaker 1

He's pursuing his master's degree.

00;19;50;00 - 00;19;53;00

Speaker 6

So it's a lot We've got a busy household, but the most fun.

00;19;53;06 - 00;20;10;24

Speaker 1

I must say, love and fun. I mean, both of you guys, you know, you feel the love and fun. Yes. And and you do. One of the things that I love so much and I think this is what says this about you. So and then we're going to go into the board. But you you guys are very intentional with how you spend your time and what you do.

00;20;11;00 - 00;20;22;05

Speaker 1

And it's not like an Uber, uber organizer where it's like, my gosh, we have to do it's like, let's just flow. And as you said, you give yourself grace at this time. Seven kids under the age of five. I mean, Lord.

00;20;22;05 - 00;20;22;29

Speaker 6

You added two more.

00;20;22;29 - 00;20;27;22

Speaker 1

Times. Well, I just in my dyslexia thing, I'm just like, I just dyslexia.

00;20;27;24 - 00;20;31;03

Speaker 6

I just I was like, gosh, is this a forcing?

00;20;31;10 - 00;20;33;20

Speaker 1

You know, you know, you're going have seven.

00;20;33;23 - 00;20;34;20

Speaker 4

Five kids.

00;20;34;22 - 00;20;45;13

Speaker 1

Under seven. But that is something that's so important for people to hear because a lot of us, you know, it's like, okay, how can we be better people? And it's just giving yourself grace. Yes.

00;20;45;15 - 00;21;11;25

Speaker 6

Yes, 100%. I think if we've learned anything in this time with the kids is they definitely humble you. So just when you think you've got it down for parenting, they shake things up and you figure out, nope, I don't have it down. Let me figure out how they get better. But I think we've realized that as long as we're intentional with every day and we share with them love and we teach them kindness and honoring God's Word them, that's, you know, we've done our job.

00;21;11;25 - 00;21;14;21

Speaker 1

Yes, I love it. Okay. So let's talk about the board.

00;21;14;27 - 00;21;40;09

Speaker 6

Yes, let's do it. So I have the pleasure of recently joining the off the field and Football Association board. So I was very thankful for the opportunity to stand as the chair of development and Community Arts Community Services now. So I would say for the past three months it's just been phenomenal, just the amount of partnerships that we've been able to come alongside and just the power of what we're doing up ahead.

00;21;40;09 - 00;21;59;27

Speaker 6

So just to give you an example, So we met with USA Swimming just a couple of weeks ago to talk about what it would look like for a partnership between them and us to try to encourage safe swim. So what would that partnership look like for the NFL to come alongside USA Swimming so their champions with our champion?

00;21;59;28 - 00;22;15;19

Speaker 6

So that's something we're excited about. So I'm thinking within the next year or so that that campaign will be pushed forward. So that's a that's a blessing. We've made a partnership with the pro retired players, pro retired Football Players Association.

00;22;15;21 - 00;22;17;06

Speaker 1

So yeah.

00;22;17;09 - 00;22;33;16

Speaker 6

But they have just been phenomenal to work alongside. So they offer some benefits that came together last collective bargaining agreement. So they've got a reach of about 14,000 members. So we definitely have expanded our reach and our platform, so we can't wait to see what's to come.

00;22;33;23 - 00;22;35;26

Speaker 1

That's amazing. And are you walking tomorrow?

00;22;36;01 - 00;22;41;06

Speaker 6

I am walking tomorrow. And after you're here, I'm like, What am I doing? That is just so.

00;22;41;07 - 00;22;45;02

Speaker 1

I knew I was asking you to do something amazing job.

00;22;45;04 - 00;22;57;08

Speaker 6

you're just Jasmine, but also you bring it so much understood. The sisterhood and what goes on behind the scenes and prep of the fashion. So just to get a chance to be a part of the planning process this year. So I can't wait.

00;22;57;09 - 00;22;58;26

Speaker 1

Can you tell us a little bit about you? Are you wearing.

00;22;58;26 - 00;23;05;25

Speaker 6

Have no idea. I'm going after this to figure that out. So but I'm hoping it'll be good. I know it's going to be Neiman Marcus. I just thought.

00;23;06;03 - 00;23;18;22

Speaker 1

perfect. my gosh. Well, I mean, again, thank you. Thank you. Thank you for having me. But I love that they also read that you said yes to the board because you can bring so much. And again, it's just another thing. But you woven it into your life.

00;23;18;29 - 00;23;27;16

Speaker 6

Yes. Yes. I more think of it as been blessing me and having me the opportunity for me to join them. So they're giving me a lot more than what I'm giving them. So I'm thankful.

00;23;27;18 - 00;23;36;13

Speaker 1

And that's why it's so important to say yes at times, to say no at times when you know that you can't, it does not serving you. But there's things that sometimes it's like, Let me pray on that. Let me see.

00;23;36;14 - 00;23;41;02

Speaker 6

It extends you, it pushes you. But it's yeah, it's for you and it's for your purpose. Yeah.

00;23;41;02 - 00;23;42;02

Speaker 1

Well, thank you.

00;23;42;05 - 00;23;42;29

Speaker 4

Thank you.

00;23;43;02 - 00;23;43;22

Speaker 1

Thank you.

00;23;43;24 - 00;23;45;13

00;25;51;17 - 00;26;11;00

Speaker 1

Thank you so much for joining us live with NFL Thread. Welcome back to Witness live with NFL Thread, one of our big sponsors, UBS. Carey, I mean, we've had Carey, you've gone on and told your story about why financial literacy is so important. And so I know the listeners have heard your whole story you were on last year.

00;26;11;07 - 00;26;12;08

Speaker 1

I want to say it was last year.

00;26;12;08 - 00;26;15;09

Speaker 8

Yeah, last year. Last spring, Yes. A little less than a year ago.

00;26;15;09 - 00;26;22;15

Speaker 1

And now we have a new baby coming on, which I know we're probably not supposed to talk about, but we are because I'm a mom and I love it. But So just tell us what you've been doing. I mean.

00;26;22;18 - 00;26;40;23

Speaker 8

So we've we're so thrilled to be here this is the sixth year that UBS has been involved with NFL throughout and our third Super Bowl luncheon. So we're just so happy to support the NFL thread. I think the mission of thread and the mission of UBS to support those in the spotlight, athletes and entertainers to support women on their financial journeys.

00;26;40;23 - 00;26;43;16

Speaker 8

So much alignment there. So we're just really happy to be here again.

00;26;43;19 - 00;27;06;21

Speaker 1

I mean, I'm one of the things that I was I was fascinated and we talked about this afterwards. I'm not that great with my financial literacy. Right. And so I think Cynthia and I had the questions because I was like, let me take this from an aspect of, you know, my husband has always done that stuff. Now I do have a full time job and I need to start becoming more aware of that because I've always kind of just was like, You know what?

00;27;06;21 - 00;27;22;12

Speaker 1

I'm just gonna let you do that. And you shared a lot of statistics that I thought were really interesting. I remember being like, Wow, okay, I don't want to be one of those statistics anymore. I don't I don't want to I want to have more knowledge. So if you can take us through a little bit of what you're doing with the women or with UBS, I think it's really important for everyone to hear.

00;27;22;12 - 00;27;44;29

Speaker 8

Yeah, absolutely. So our goal at UBS with the Women segment is threefold. It's to bring more women to the financial table to help and support women who are at the financial table and then ultimately to make that table a more inclusive place for women. So we really want to meet women wherever they are on their financial journey, whether they're just getting started and sort of recognizing the importance of being involved or they're extremely involved in sort of planning for their next life chapter.

00;27;44;29 - 00;28;04;17

Speaker 8

But to your point, you know, it's never too late to get involved. And there's always things that everyone, women and men can be doing to take that next step, to have a good handle on your financial life. Because you know, the reality, whether we like it or not, is money influences so much of our lives, how we live our lives, how we take care of our families, how we get from place to place.

00;28;04;20 - 00;28;09;26

Speaker 8

So it's really important to have that good handle on it so that you're prepared for whatever life might bring.

00;28;09;26 - 00;28;26;09

Speaker 1

Right. And I think one of the things that you brought up that was really important is a lot of times people think, okay, I just go to the bank and I'm good, but if they don't have a certain amount but you always say start before you actually get there, because it's really important to have that handle before you start growing your portfolio.

00;28;26;10 - 00;28;47;27

Speaker 8

Absolutely. And I think, you know, it's never too early or too late to get started, whether you're just starting out and thinking about, you know, that first paycheck or paying down student debt or understanding, you know, how a credit card works so that you don't, you know, impact your credit score all the way up to, you know, building and accumulating and preserving while thinking about your legacy for your loved ones.

00;28;48;00 - 00;29;08;24

Speaker 8

There's so many things that you can do. I think, along the way that are really, really important from having those difficult conversations with yourself or with a partner or spouse if you're married with, you know, aging loved ones, with children starting children, young, thinking about money, smart habits, there's so many things that, you know, we at UBS are really focused on helping people with and sort of trying to meet you where you are.

00;29;08;24 - 00;29;28;04

Speaker 8

So whatever it is that you're looking to do, whether it's taking that first step, thinking about developing a financial plan, maybe you have a very specific goal in mind. You'd like to start a business or you'd like to, you know, buy your parents a home. How can we help you do that? And then even think beyond the here and now well into the future so that you're prepared for a long time?

00;29;28;04 - 00;29;28;20

Speaker 8

I love that.

00;29;28;20 - 00;29;33;12

Speaker 1

Now, where can people like if they're like, okay, I need this? Like, where can they find you? Yeah, I've got contacts with you.

00;29;33;13 - 00;29;51;17

Speaker 8

So our main website is uber dot com forward slash women. Very easy to remember UBS dot com slash women. And then I'm also really excited to share that we're going to be doing a virtual financial education webinar in March during Women's History Month for all NFL threat members. So Cynthia's audience will share more about that in the coming days.

00;29;51;17 - 00;30;02;10

Speaker 8

But we definitely encourage everyone to join that and we'll go into some really tactical tips and tools and ideas and steps that everyone can take that are really relevant to each person and each woman on her financial journey.

00;30;02;10 - 00;30;03;17

Speaker 1

I love that. Well, thank you again.

00;30;03;17 - 00;30;05;10

Speaker 8

Always great to be.

00;30;05;11 - 00;30;08;10

Speaker 1

With you out of all thread and congratulations thank yous. Thank you.

00;30;08;10 - 00;30;09;18

Speaker 8

So much. Great to be here.

00;30;09;25 - 00;30;15;22

Speaker 1

Take care. Welcome back to Wireless live with NFL three. And we have a very special guest. Britney, how are you?

00;30;15;23 - 00;30;16;28

Speaker 7

Hi, I'm good. How are.

00;30;16;28 - 00;30;21;00

Speaker 1

You? Good. I'm good. You have the best smile. yeah.

00;30;21;03 - 00;30;22;09

Speaker 4

Great.

00;30;22;11 - 00;30;24;12

Speaker 1

So what brings you to NFL, Fred?

00;30;24;20 - 00;30;28;14

Speaker 7

So my brother is a former NFL player.

00;30;28;14 - 00;30;32;11

Speaker 1

And we've had him on the podcast. And I love your life, your brother.

00;30;32;16 - 00;31;20;12

Speaker 7

He is definitely a lovable guy. If he is the Steelers, just invite it here to network and to I'm talking to Cynthia and she's like, Hey, I need to go get on the podcast. I said, okay, let's do it. You know, lights, camera, action. Yes, exactly. So I have a nonprofit. It's got unapologetically blessed Teen center. So where we help at risk youth within the inner city, it's considered to be like a safe haven, an alternative to running the streets, to it's it's an answer to a problem that we see within the community with high criminalization rates, within the Black and Brown community prep teen pregnancies, helping them with job readiness to different things like

00;31;20;12 - 00;31;28;29

Speaker 7

that, and also providing housing as well, because a lot of the children within the different school districts are actually living in shelters.

00;31;29;01 - 00;31;31;07

Speaker 1

Okay. And where where are you guys headquartered?

00;31;31;10 - 00;31;33;18

Speaker 7

Los Angeles, California. Okay. Yeah.

00;31;33;18 - 00;31;35;04

Speaker 1

And where can people find you.

00;31;35;06 - 00;31;51;25

Speaker 7

So they can find me? I'm on Instagram at wonderfully made underscore b r i t t, and then for the foundation. Yes, the foundation's it is at u Teen Center.

00;31;51;27 - 00;31;53;29

Speaker 1

And how did you get involved?

00;31;54;02 - 00;32;18;22

Speaker 7

I worked with I've been working with children for a few years. It's been a minute and again a few years ago when I was working at a school. I love the kids. I love the teenagers. I always have, always will, and few of my kiddos got into into trouble. It was a day after football season that ended and the trouble that they got into when they went and robbed someone's house.

00;32;18;25 - 00;32;41;20

Speaker 7

And my children, they know not to lie to me. Price I say, Why? Like what? Why? And the most vulnerable answer was because Mom couldn't afford the rent. Lights were out, they needed something, some money. And then the other one was like, I was bored. So we found a quick fix for them. And then I'm like, okay, Lord, this is a problem.

00;32;41;20 - 00;33;01;21

Speaker 7

If these are the young men here, how many more are present at different schools? So then I'm like, I need an answer to this problem. And so creating a safe place for these children to come after school when they don't have anything else to do something productive that can help them thrive in life.

00;33;01;23 - 00;33;23;28

Speaker 1

Wow. I mean, beautiful work. Beautiful work. And did they I mean, when you as you said, you married the two, it was like, can you take us through a little bit of the process of starting the nonprofit because there are so many people that have ideas and they don't know where to go and you just kind of give us like the high level of like, okay, you have an idea what is like the next step someone can take.

00;33;24;00 - 00;33;48;08

Speaker 7

When you have an idea is to execute it. Sometimes it just takes for you to take that one step. Once you take that first step, everything else becomes brighter. You know, you never get into the room until you open the door. Sometimes all it takes for you to do is open the door, and then you'll find the proper place to say, I knew that this is something that I needed to do.

00;33;48;15 - 00;34;02;28

Speaker 7

And although I couldn't, honestly, I didn't have someone to do the 5013c for me, I didn't have anyone to give me funding, which I'm still looking for. But I read a book.

00;34;03;00 - 00;34;04;05

Speaker 2

I read.

00;34;04;07 - 00;34;23;04

Speaker 7

And it was it was a drive. It was more than me. I knew that it was more than it's more than me. The kids depended on it. And so that was was pushing me forward to start this, to do this, to be that answer to them that they really need beautiful.

00;34;23;04 - 00;34;41;19

Speaker 1

And I have to say, did you guys just witness that? Did you witness one question and where that passion and where you are in what you're supposed to be doing? Because you as you said, you took that one step and you're like, I don't know how it's going to happen, but it's going to happen. And you just saw that as you expressed that.

00;34;41;26 - 00;34;53;16

Speaker 1

That was beautiful. Thank you. That was beautiful. So, again, we're so people can find you. So if they're like, I want to get involved, I want to help. I want to be the person that helps with the funding. How do they get in contact with you so they can do that?

00;34;53;22 - 00;34;56;20

Speaker 7

00;35;51;02 - 00;36;09;18

Speaker 1

Thank you. Thank you for joining. Why in this live with NFL thread here live from Vegas at flanker. Welcome back to Vegas live with NFL thread here live from Vegas at flanker and queen v v. my god. I am obsessed with this woman sitting next to me.

00;36;09;18 - 00;36;12;00

Speaker 4

Good afternoon. So many.

00;36;12;00 - 00;36;26;00

Speaker 1

Reasons. So many reasons. I mean, you've been on the podcast. Yes. I've come to your live show. Yes. Even brought my husband Dan, if you're watching. Right. I mean, incredible. But I want to go back to the first time I met you.

00;36;26;02 - 00;36;30;02

Speaker 4

When I was shy and I was like, I don't know what I'm going to talk about on your podcast. Yes.

00;36;30;04 - 00;36;35;21

Speaker 1

So at the Hall of Fame, Yes. Right. So you're well, you can say hi first. I'm like talking to you.

00;36;35;26 - 00;36;37;16

Speaker 4

Hi. No, no, please, please.

00;36;37;18 - 00;36;59;25

Speaker 1

So this is Bill Kaur's. Wife and queen has a voice and her writing is like her music is I mean, literally, I can like, I think a couple of your songs, I can literally, like, regurgitate because they really like, they're catchy and good and just feel good. And there's a story and it's just it's beautiful. So at the Hall of Fame, it was one of your first events.

00;37;00;02 - 00;37;03;22

Speaker 1

Yeah, right. It was one of your first events. You and Bill have been married for over ten years.

00;37;03;22 - 00;37;27;12

Speaker 4

We'll be married ten years this year. But that was like the first fashion show luncheon I went to right at the Hall of Fame events. You know, it's all the NFL culture. Still very new to me. Yeah, we've been married ten years, but still there are these things that I just keep coming like and kind of like talking with you or with Cynthia's audience and just so much, so much still yet to learn, but it's been amazing.

00;37;27;15 - 00;37;45;13

Speaker 1

And so that's how she came into our lives. And it was like, We need to have you on the podcast because you're doing this music, you know, for many years. And I mean, again, you can go and look for the life. You know, it was it was a beautiful story. I mean, I think we talked for over an hour and then Cynthia said to me, Hey, can you ask Vee if she can sing?

00;37;45;13 - 00;37;59;18

Speaker 1

And I was like, yeah, my God. I was so excited to see her sings in the massive national anthem. And then she contacted you? Yes. So what was like your feeling? You know, I mean, because again, this is you said it's new to you, but it's not. But then you feel the community of these women, right?

00;37;59;18 - 00;38;22;03

Speaker 4

I do. And I mean, my SO two of my stepdaughters are married to professional athletes. Meghan married to Kevin Westgarth, who is an NHL player, won the Cup with the Kings, played for several teams, and Lindsey married Brian Kelly, who played at Duke, won the championship there. I played the Lakers with Kobe and now he's in Japan. So I knew a little bit of this community of culture from them.

00;38;22;03 - 00;38;37;19

Speaker 4

But myself as a wife is brand new, but it's been the most incredible experience. I've met some of the most incredible people through the NFL in the hall, yourself included. And it's just it's just been wonderful. So it.

00;38;37;19 - 00;38;56;17

Speaker 1

Is. And but so we talked about this on the podcast coming into a community that is so tight and so tightly knit and being like, okay, wait, I don't I don't know how to kind of navigate this. It I mean, even me who's not in I mean, some people are like, Wait, who's your cousin? I'm like, No, no, no, I'm just the podcast lady.

00;38;56;20 - 00;38;57;27

Speaker 1

I'm just a podcast. Like, great.

00;38;57;27 - 00;38;58;14

Speaker 4

Podcast.

00;38;58;15 - 00;39;12;08

Speaker 1

Yeah, so sweet. But this community is really a beautiful community. But yes, it can seem very intimidating if you allow it to continue that. But if you allow yourself just to be like, Let me take a breath and join and that's and just be yourself and be yourself, right?

00;39;12;08 - 00;39;30;19

Speaker 4

So I mean that that's the one thing we all can do better than anybody else is be ourselves. Like everybody can do something and and that's it. So but it's it's been it's been an adventure, you know, And even just being here at Super Bowl and this is my first, you know, thread event or, you know, off the field event.

00;39;30;19 - 00;39;43;04

Speaker 4

So to sing the national anthem, it's a huge honor and it always is. But now to do it within this scenario, I'm just yeah, I'm over the moon and I can't wait to hear it. I can't wait because I better get ready. Now.

00;39;43;06 - 00;39;44;06

Speaker 1

Where can people find you?

00;39;44;07 - 00;40;00;03

Speaker 4

Queen Wycombe? That's queen. And then just the letter V like victory or Veronica Queen v dot com on all the socials. So. Yeah. Yeah. Well, thank you. Thank you. Great to see you too. And I'll see you out there. Yes, I well, I'll be I'll be screaming.

00;40;00;05 - 00;40;02;06

Speaker 1

But not, not interrupting you.

00;40;02;12 - 00;40;04;02

Speaker 4

You can scream.

00;40;04;05 - 00;40;21;28

Speaker 1

So thank you. Thank you. Welcome back to wireless live with NFL thread here live on fireside. You know, I have not once introduced myself I'm Julian Harden. For the ones that don't know that I really do really have not done that. It's terrible. I'm here with Asia who is off the field I mean let's talk. Yes, yes. You're new is your first year.

00;40;21;29 - 00;40;41;17

Speaker 2

Yes, I am so, so excited. Like this is my first year for the Super Bowl for threat event, an off the field fashion show. So I'm so excited. Welcome. Welcome. Thank you. You know, they've been doing this for 23 years. Yeah. And so just to be here, I'm like, let's get it. Let's go. Yeah, I'm so excited.

00;40;41;17 - 00;40;49;29

Speaker 1

So what? How did you kind of find this little this little worlds in within the NFL thread off the field? Can you take us through that? Yeah.

00;40;49;29 - 00;41;19;06

Speaker 2

So my husband played he played his name is Barry Richardson. He played six years for Kansas City Chiefs, Saint Louis Rams, where we met Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans. And so I honestly, when we travel and you know how it is like you travel, you're going through the motions and you're like, I need community. And so I literally Google initially and then I'm like, you just can't just jump into the organization and like, Hey, hi, I'm here.

00;41;19;09 - 00;41;43;04

Speaker 2

What I end up doing is finding one of the ladies. Actually, she's here today. Well, first, Ashley Brown was amazing and she's the founder of the bill. And so yeah. And so she was like, Asia, you need to find Kelly Davis. She's she's the ins and outs of Charlotte Wise. And so once I met Kelly, she introduced me to her mom who was became my nanny.

00;41;43;04 - 00;42;00;03

Speaker 2

And then it was like this whole world opened up. And then I learned about all the NFL Wives and all of that, because when we were younger, it was just like I was just focused on the kids. I wasn't really trying to connect with the wives, but then I'm just like, Okay, it's time. It's time, right? So now I'm here.

00;42;00;05 - 00;42;03;06

Speaker 1

that's wonderful. Okay, so what do you do with the organization?

00;42;03;08 - 00;42;29;25

Speaker 2

I am a Nisha. Initially, I started off as a board member, as a strategic planning board member, and then I created the board plan. And I in the plan, they were like, well, Asia, we should hire you to do this work, because I was sharing like, you know, like we're going in a different direction and becoming a long term or a year round organization instead of just for the event fashion show, the conference.

00;42;29;25 - 00;42;48;14

Speaker 2

We're doing other initiatives to help the wives from Educational Initiatives, Health Initiative, mentorship. And so I'm so excited about rolling off these different initiatives year round and partnering with the NFLPA in different cities. So I'm so like y'all, I'm so excited. I'm like, I was like, No, that's wonderful.

00;42;48;14 - 00;42;50;28

Speaker 1

You can feel it. I mean, you know, Yes, yes.

00;42;50;28 - 00;43;14;03

Speaker 2

I'm really excited just to see that again. This has been amazing organization for its 23 years of sisterhood, charity, family, faith, and just uplifting each other and just seeing how everyone is supporting each other. And so now it's a lot of new board members. They're bringing in a younger, you know, young blood. Right? Right. Keep it, keep the motor going.

00;43;14;03 - 00;43;21;06

Speaker 2

And so we're here and we're so excited to to do really great things and to expand upon what they already created.

00;43;21;06 - 00;43;25;03

Speaker 1

Wonderful. Well, thank you. Thank you so much for joining line this five with NFL thread.

00;43;25;04 - 00;43;26;06

Speaker 2

Thank you so much.

00;43;26;06 - 00;43;27;25

Speaker 1

And I'll see you tomorrow You walking tomorrow.

00;43;27;25 - 00;43;41;12

Speaker 2

I am now walking. Once they introduced the executive director I'm a wave. I'm kind of not that I look I'm not the person I want to walk and do like this happens. Maybe it is wave like yeah once, maybe someday. But not now. Not right now. Okay. I love it.

00;43;41;15 - 00;43;42;21

Speaker 1

Well, I'll see you tomorrow, though.

00;43;42;21 - 00;43;44;13

Speaker 2

Yes, I'll see you. Thank you for joining.

00;43;44;15 - 00;44;01;25

Speaker 1

00;44;01;25 - 00;44;07;29

Speaker 1

I mean, you are doing so much awesome stuff, man. Do you want to take us through a little bit of that or we're going to go, right? Yeah, sure. Just a little bit. I mean.

00;44;07;29 - 00;44;10;06

Speaker 4

00;44;12;29 - 00;44;13;28

Speaker 5

Scholarship, got my first.

00;44;13;28 - 00;44;14;14

Speaker 2

Pair of spikes.

00;44;14;14 - 00;44;16;13

Speaker 7

Out of the lost and found. And just like the.

00;44;16;13 - 00;44;20;08

Speaker 1

Young lady Brittany was talking about, I was the kid that needed to not be in trouble.

00;44;20;10 - 00;44;21;11

Speaker 5

I was so thankful for that.

00;44;21;11 - 00;44;24;22

Speaker 1

And then I've taken on football, which has been great.

00;44;24;24 - 00;44;25;15

Speaker 7

I coach at.

00;44;25;15 - 00;44;30;04

Speaker 1

The number one football team in Michigan. I'm top 25. In United States. We have the number one quarterback.

00;44;30;04 - 00;44;32;16

Speaker 7

In the country, Bryce Underwood. He is a decided be a LSU.

00;44;32;16 - 00;44;35;09

Speaker 2

Tiger and it has been incredible being able to.

00;44;35;09 - 00;44;39;16

Speaker 5

Incorporate my passion for athlete development, my knowledge of football, my knowledge of.

00;44;39;16 - 00;44;40;02

Speaker 1

Speed.

00;44;40;02 - 00;44;42;03

Speaker 2

Conditioning and injury prevention, something.

00;44;42;03 - 00;44;57;03

Speaker 1

That we know is is a touchy subject when we get to the NFL's. So I, I enjoy it and I have young young men that think I'm cool. So hashtag winning, right? I mean, amazing. And you're playing in the game by game. yeah. I mean, so we're going to be you're going to be such a rock star all about.

00;44;57;03 - 00;44;58;00

Speaker 1

That is as.

00;44;58;00 - 00;45;06;01

Speaker 5

My athlete, I got to shot them. I'll shout them out. But they were able to train me. So teaching me about how a DB backs up and how he opened his hips, what was.

00;45;06;03 - 00;45;07;19

Speaker 1

Great for me because I care about their.

00;45;07;19 - 00;45;12;19

Speaker 7

Body emotion. So today I'm gonna get a little taste of what they do and let them know that they coached. Still got it.

00;45;12;21 - 00;45;16;08

Speaker 1

You totally do. And people can follow you and find you a catch. Can catch.

00;45;16;08 - 00;45;20;06

Speaker 7

Candace That's the Instagram. I do a little sports commentating.

00;45;20;08 - 00;45;25;22

Speaker 1

And yeah and the families go, Families. Good. My best friend, my daughter is incredible.

00;45;25;22 - 00;45;29;12

Speaker 2

She will be here today and my son is a straight dog.

00;45;29;12 - 00;45;37;05

Speaker 1

He's going to play in the youth game. And then I got a young one, Bruin, who's still trying to figure out, is he the baby or Right. So it's we made it this one, a family affair.

00;45;37;05 - 00;45;39;03

Speaker 7

Vegas doesn't seem as.

00;45;39;06 - 00;45;48;11

Speaker 1

Family friendly, but there's so many things on my family was able to come from California and we made this a family event. So they're going to see their mom show out.

00;45;48;14 - 00;45;49;17

Speaker 4

Shows.

00;45;49;19 - 00;45;57;23

Speaker 1

And you guys will this will be live so you guys can watch this and watch her. I mean, you're going to be and you're going to be a sideline reporter. Yeah. So you have to make sure you come on the touchdown.

00;45;57;23 - 00;46;03;26

Speaker 4

I'll be like, were you juju where you were good. You always. Yeah. my God. So good to see you.

00;46;04;00 - 00;46;13;07

00;47;08;05 - 00;47;17;28

So again, I mean what you're here, just give us a little bit about why you're here and why this event means so much to you. Yeah, I'm Erica McCloud. Just sorry that off again.

00;47;17;28 - 00;47;18;17

Speaker 2

Yes.

00;47;18;19 - 00;47;21;08

Speaker 7

My husband just finished his fourth season, so we're.

00;47;21;08 - 00;47;22;22

Speaker 1

Going into year 13.

00;47;22;24 - 00;47;25;03

Speaker 7

When I'm already on that cast.

00;47;25;04 - 00;47;34;19

Speaker 2

But it's like, what happens next, you know? So when I met Cynthia, even it was like, you feel young and you're kind of going through the motions. And I played in the flag football and we.

00;47;34;19 - 00;47;38;18

Speaker 1

Were here for the Super Bowl and it was incredible.

00;47;38;20 - 00;47;50;18

Speaker 2

But now it's just the time for us that like that other side of things to connect with everyone else and meet individuals. And what is our life after, you know, football on the field. It there's so much more of it. So as cheesy it is as it.

00;47;50;18 - 00;48;09;19

Speaker 1

Is off the field, what are we doing right And but it's so important to us have that community because yeah, we talk about this on the podcast but also in life. I mean, when that next stage happens, it doesn't matter how much you prepared for it, how strong your relationship is, how much your heads are on your shoulder, you're to go through stuff.

00;48;09;25 - 00;48;21;16

Speaker 1

yeah, because this is what he is loved. This is what you have loved. You've been there supporting him. And so the fact that you can talk about it have stories is the important thing. Yeah, No, it's an incredible thing. I mean.

00;48;21;19 - 00;48;26;11

So my husband, I started a foundation Change Our Future foundation. I was started in the midst of the pandemic. It's a youth development organization, all based on really providing opportunities and experiences to kids that look just like us. So whether that's the leadership opportunities, mentorship, I just started my STEM program. It's just allowing them to dream really.

00;49;08;12 - 00;49;10;14

Speaker 1

00;49;59;18 - 00;50;01;06

Speaker 5

Thank you so much for having me.

00;50;01;08 - 00;50;06;12

Speaker 1

Yes, thank you. And I know I've met you or we have not met in person. We have. We have. Yes. I have.

00;50;06;12 - 00;50;17;21

Speaker 5

To repeat. Yes. Pindar Yeah, before Super Bowl. So I've done the off the field football wives flag football game. Yes, the fashion show. So yeah, we've crossed paths a couple times.

00;50;17;21 - 00;50;25;05

Speaker 1

Yes, we have. And it's just to say, I know there's so many people that we see, but I'm like, I know I've definitely met you now. Were you at in Arizona last year?

00;50;25;05 - 00;50;26;29

Speaker 2

I did not. I did not.

00;50;27;01 - 00;50;27;25

Speaker 5

Miss Arizona.

00;50;27;28 - 00;50;33;11

Speaker 1

But I saw you the year before. Absolutely. So tell us a little bit about what brings you to the events, what they mean to you.

00;50;33;13 - 00;50;54;20

Speaker 5

This event means a lot to me because it gives me the opportunity to network with like minded women. And I think I'm so thankful for Cynthia for putting this organization the thread together to put us all in front of each other and give us a great platform to to, like I said, network and make things happen that you normally wouldn't have the opportunity to do.

00;50;54;21 - 00;51;09;27

Speaker 1

Yes. And I mean, the thing is, we talk about this all the time, about the community aspect of the threat events and off the field. And it is so important to connect with like minded women, as I have said. But then the networking, what are you doing? How can we help each other? Where are you in stage? Are you having a rough time?

00;51;09;27 - 00;51;22;05

Speaker 1

Are you, you know, are you connecting? You know, what's going on in your life is so important. It is. And the fact that there are organizations out there like this that sometimes people don't realize that that are out there that they can connect with and do it.

00;51;22;07 - 00;51;41;28

Speaker 5

Absolutely. Yeah, I have I came across this organization because my husband from the NFL, he's a former chiefs, so go chiefs as well as the Houston Texans. So I wanted my own identity not just to be his wife, but to stand alone with other women because it you kind of get lost in the shuffle as sometimes you do.

00;51;42;00 - 00;52;07;10

Speaker 5

And so I met the off the field wives ladies when they came to Houston for the Houston Super Bowl. And we've been locked in every cent. So that was since 2017. And when the opportunity presented itself this year, I wanted to put some things that I'm doing in the bag to get together, to get some. I want to put some items in the bag for a new business that an adventure that I've started and it's called KIPP, a pale skin care.

00;52;07;12 - 00;52;38;23

Speaker 5

KIPP appeals the Swahili name for Butterfly. Wonderful butterflies mean a lot to me. I lost my mom in 2018 after the Super Bowl went off. My mom transitioned, and prior to that, she kept saying she saw butterflies, but she never made it to Africa. So it kind of all tied in and I decided to launch this weekend. So yeah, so I have I put items in the bag for the ladies for the thread to, to give them I would like to experience let's keep it pillow is for your skin as well as what it means to me.

00;52;38;29 - 00;52;41;07

Speaker 5

So I just wanted to stop by and that with you.

00;52;41;11 - 00;52;42;15

Speaker 1

Thank you. Where can people find you?

00;52;42;21 - 00;52;50;10

Speaker 5

You can find out. Social media. Me personally, I'm so misty blue and Instagram and the skin care line is a pale skin on Instagram as well.

00;52;50;10 - 00;52;53;15

Speaker 1

00;52;53;15 - 00;52;54;15
